2016 Events
The Soldiers' Monument Commission is currently working on this year's events.
Once again we will be doing a program on the town green after the Memorial Day parade on May 30.
On the calendar, is a June 11th walking tour of Strong Manufacturing and Walnut Street (up to Wetmore Avenue) where the Strong family built their homes. These manufacturers of coffin hardware and linings were brought to Winsted in 1866 and the Strong brothers' sons carried on the tradition until the Great Depression of the 1930s. Learn about their business, family and their neighborhood. The tour will begin at 2 p.m.There will be a $5 per person charge to be used on the restoration of the Soldiers' Monument. More info to follow in May.
Our 4th annual Cemetery Walk will take place on Saturday, October 22- this year at Forest View Cemetery entrance located across from Willow Street. More info will be forthcoming.
Other events are being considered as well. Check back in May!
