FUNDRAISING
The Soldiers’ Monument Commission would like to thank the generosity of so many who have contributed to the efforts to restore the monument.
A fundraising letter went out to a small percentage of the residents of the town of Winchester early last fall and we have garnered a total of $5,000. And rarely a month goes by without a donation, either “in memorium” to a resident, or as a “thank-you” for some of the programs that the commission has developed to promote the phenomenal history of the town.
We are currently looking at pricing for some of the work that needs to be done at the monument. Due to the lack of state and federal grants for a project the size of our monument, we find it necessary to work at the restoration piecemeal while still looking for grant opportunities as we move forward. In addition, it will still be necessary to continue fundraising efforts in town in order to take advantage of the few matching grants that may, at some point, be available to us.
Please consider sending a check to Soldiers’ Monument Commission, P.O. Box 322, Winsted, CT 06098. Make the check out to Town of Winchester and memo Soldiers’ Monument Commission.
Again, thank you for your generosity!
