Community and Family picnic at the Soldiers’ Monument and Memorial Park, Crown Street, Winsted, from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Saturday, July 26
The monument and grounds will provide a special setting for a variety of events and entertainment throughout the five hours.
We encourage families and friends to bring their own picnic and lawn chairs, blankets, etc. and enjoy the grounds and tour the 123-year-old monument. Some food and water/soda will also be for sale at the park during the day.
A schedule of the events will be posted early in July. Some of the planned activities include:
Drum circle
Yoga class
Classical country music singing
Improv performances
Renaissance Fair sword fighting
A variety of lawn games organized by the YMCA
Music from local bands
Some of these activities will overlap each other giving those in attendance the opportunity to watch or participate in multiple events during the afternoon and evening.
Parking will be available on Crown Street and around the monument.
All of the entertainment is being provided by volunteers and while there will be no charge to those attending, a free will donation to the Monuments’ Restoration fund will be highly encouraged.
In the event of inclement weather, the picnic will be cancelled. There is no rain date for the event.
